Six months of the digital client register for car rentals and garages
Since July 2025, Greek car rentals, garages, car washes and car parks register every customer with the tax authority before the service starts. How to keep it to a single entry.
On 1 July 2025, a new step appeared at the counter of every car rental office, garage, body shop, car wash and car park in Greece. Before the service starts — when a car rental begins, when a vehicle enters a workshop or a car park — the business has to record the customer and the vehicle in AADE's digital client register, the psifiako pelatologio, and receive a registration number. When the job is finished, the invoice and payment method are added to the same entry.
Half a year in, most businesses in these sectors have found a way to do it. The question worth asking now is not whether you comply, but how many times your staff type the same information to do so.
Where the double work hides
A typical car rental on a Greek island in August goes something like this:
- The booking arrives — by a platform, the website, email or a walk-in.
- At pick-up, someone fills in the rental agreement with the driver's details and licence, and checks the car.
- Someone records the rental in the register.
- At return, someone checks the car again, closes the agreement, takes the balance, and issues the receipt.
- Someone completes the register entry with the document and payment method.
Steps 2, 3 and 5 involve the same customer, the same car and the same dates. If the booking system, the rental agreement and the register are three separate places, that information is typed three times, at the counter, while the queue grows.
A garage has the same shape: vehicle arrives, job card, register entry, work, invoice, register completed.
Keeping it to one entry
The principle is the one that applies to every Greek digital reporting obligation: record things once, at the source, and let the rest follow.
- If the booking already holds the customer, the car and the dates, the rental agreement should be generated from it, not rewritten.
- If the agreement holds the details, the register entry should be sent from it — through AADE's tools or commercial software connected to the register — not retyped into another screen.
- If the receipt is issued from the same record, completing the entry is a final step, not a new task.
How exactly the connection works depends on the software you use, and on the technical specification AADE publishes. Your accountant and your software provider are the people to ask about that part.
What we know from rentals of a different kind
We have not built a car rental system. We have built a rental system where the item happens to be skis. The Sports&Ski rental system records each rental down to the serial number of the pair, the customer's boot and pole fitting, the dates, the deposit and the balance. The shop reports around 23 hours less paperwork a week, and on-time returns rising from 85% to 94%.
The lesson carries over directly: when a rental is one record from booking to return, adding one more thing to report — a register entry — is a field, not a form.

The honest version
If you run a small garage and you already use workshop software that handles the register, you may have nothing to change. If you run a rental office where the register became a separate daily chore on top of paper agreements, that chore is a symptom. Tell us how a rental moves through your office today, step by step.
